Someone contacted me through this blog because they are trying to find the words of a song. In my search here, I have found out that the name of the song is: The Flowers of Red Hill and that it is an Irish Reel. The guy at the music store also told me that it has an alternate title called "The Claddaugh". If anyone has ever heard of this song, and knows the lyrics to it, I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment, or better yet the lyrics, on this blog.
Thanks!

Claddagh lyrics
If your reactions are reflecting immediate gratification,
will you be happy continuing the way you begun?
For If you're not already happy,
then sadness may be all you have ever known.
And you'll just have to learn to live with it within,
or you'll have to learn to change and begin again.
Well This ring I have shown you,
it means I love you, there is no one above you,
you are closer to me than a friend.
and This ring I have shown you means,
I don't own you, but I know our love can last 'til the end.
When you reflect someone else's life,
well that can cause all strife.
When there was nothing but domineering fighting when you were young.
So your relationship must work,
because your parents and you are a failure.
So to spite them, you live through them,
showing them that yours is strong.
But then how did you get here,
this attraction to this one here.
The one it seems can never live up or is right.
You're embarrassing and hating yourself more,
but yet this feeling is familiar.
When you're raised in anxiety, do you truly think
that it's happiness that steers your sight?
Humility is learning, to be sad anxious and yearning.
To shut up and not believe that you deserve,
anything you can't do for yourself,
and never being too selfish, to demand to be happy, or to be served.
There is no reason to think that one person can satisfy you in every way of life.
It's only society that tells you that that's the way that is true.
It takes strength to be alone,
but your life could be more if you don't always conform.
You're already in love with more than one person,
although you may not think you can be.
For old loves reside most, mostly in our memories.
But the fondness remains and it's still to them you would see.
This ring is a promise I am making to you,
to endeavor myself and sing for you.
To be happy and discover anyway I can try.
So my heart and friendship can stay true
cause my loyalty lies with you.
And my love, it will last 'til the end of time.
And here is some more info about the word Claddagh
Claddagh

The Claddagh (Irish: An Cladach - meaning, "a stony beach") is an area close to the centre of Galway city, where the Corrib River meets Galway Bay. It was formerly a fishing village, just outside the old city walls. It is just across the river from the Spanish Arch, which was the location of regular fish markets where the locals supplied the city with seafood as recently as the end of the 19th century. People have been gathering seafood and fishing from the area for millennia. It is one of the oldest former fishing villages in Ireland - its existence having been recorded since the arrival of Christianity in the 5th century.
Despite being so close to the city centre, the area retained a strongly separate identity until recent years and remained largely Irish-speaking into the 20th century.
In the past decade the city of Galway has expanded considerably so the Claddagh is now considered to be part of the city centre. Its location has caused house prices to inflate substantially, making Claddagh one of the most expensive residential locations in the city today.
Okay, I just found another set of lyrics. lol
It being a fine morning, this young man he chose
That he'd make occasion to wear his fine clothes
And it's down to the glen where the bonnie lassie goes
To give her a token of his love, we suppose
"Mary, oh Mary, if I could be your man
Between you and danger I fearlessly would stand
With this gold claddagh ring on your lily-white hand
Oh, there ne'er was another would dress you so grand."
There's no sun in summer there's no flowers in spring
Her hands hold my heart like the gold claddagh ring.
"Johnny, oh Johnny the ring it is of gold
And it's hands and fine heart, they are lovely to behold
But if I had the ring for one evening to hold
Then you shall have my answer e'er the week shall be old."
"Oh why have the weeks gone and not an answer came ?
And why is it that women are smarter than men ?
Oh the girl's kept the ring which I shall ne'er see again
Oh, she has many like it in a fine box at hame."
There's no sun in summer there's no flowers in spring
Her hands hold my heart like the gold claddagh ring.
It being a fine morning, this young man he chose
That he'd make occasion to wear his fine clothes
And it's down to the glen where the bonnie lassie goes
To give her a token of his love, we suppose
There's no sun in summer there's no flowers in spring
Her hands hold my heart like the gold claddagh ring.
Oh, her hands hold my heart like the gold claddagh ring.

I know the first set of lyrics is not the one. I also doubt that the second set is it. Believe me, I've already searched all over the internet. I'll send the second set of lyrics to him and see it those are it.
PS. Even though he didn't give me any lyrics from the song, I'm sure it has to mention The Flowers of Red Hill" in the song somewhere.
Try this link Nene. http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/442
Could also be titled "The Green Groves of Erin". Try searching under that title. I have found several sites, but at school, I can't access them due to internet filter. :o(
This is an Irish reel with no lyrics. Most reels do not have words. If there are words someone has set them to this melody. Every version on ITunes and YouTube is instrumental. Imogene
