HEADS UP

I went to an Irish wedding reception last Friday night. It was a very nice reception and one of the fanciest wedding receptions I've ever been to. The Irish people did theirselves proud - they were very well dressed. In the States, too many people have gotten into the bad habit of thinking you don't need to dress up for a wedding reception. I've seen people in jeans, bermuda shorts and t-shirts and some of the wedding receptions I've been to. Everyone here was very well dressed. Some of the American women I was sitting with were very interested in seeing all the hats and headpieces the Irish women were wearing. I guess it is quite the "in" thing to wear. Here are some examples of kinds of hats we saw. Some weren't quite hats, but were on a sort of headband.
