This is a towel warmer, and is what the well-equipped Irish bathroom has. It is attached to the wall and heats up when turned on. I honestly don't know how the towels would dry if they didn't have them here because it is so damp. I have a half bath downstairs that doesn't have one of these, and the hand towel seems to never be dry. I love these things! My house has an automatic system that turns these on twice a day - in the morning and at night. (This system turns other things on also.) It is so nice, especially when it's cold, to get out of the shower and get a towel that is all nice and warm. Even if you didn't have a system that turned it on automatically, they also have a dial at the bottom that will turn it on and off, and which you can also regulate how hot you want it to get. (The hotter the better as far as I'm concerned.) When I go back to the States, we are going to redo our master bath. My husband and I both agreed this might be a luxury we might want to add!
