We went to our new ward on Sunday. Unfortunately, neither one of us was watching the time so we left about 15 minutes late. It takes about 15-20 minutes to get there and we arrived right after the opening prayer. It is a very small chapel. It is one of those smaller buildings that doesn't have a cultural hall. My parents have a building like this. At their building they are able to pull a partition to block off the stand and podium and use the rest as a cultural hall for social activities. This building didn't seem to have any partition to block off the stand. They don't have benches but just have those plastic padded bucket chairs like all the chapels have in their overflow.
The bishop of this ward works for Intel. I think he's a fab manager. All the people seemed really nice. We have 3 missionary couples in our ward. One couple is here doing extraction. Another couple just got here 2 weeks ago and they are from Seattle, Washington. They are here to be the Seminary/Institute teachers. That sounds like the kind of mission I would love to go on. I was having a little dejavu when I was talking to this lady. It seems like someone told me about a relative or friend of theirs who went to Ireland on a Seminary/Institute mission and had just left. I wondered if this was the couple. Or did I just fabricate the whole thing in my mind? Can't remember for sure. I'm not sure what the 3rd couple does. I'll find out next week. One of the couples is from Idaho. Maybe the first couple.
The bishopric spoke in Sacrament meeting. They gave good talks, but the bishop's talk was better. He seemed to be pleading with the people to live the gospel better. Sort of what every bishop would say, but this bishop seemed to be a little more ....what?...desperate?...at the end of his patience?...maybe just sincere?
They didn't have programs and when I was in Relief Society they were giving all these announcements. I wondered how they expected anyone to remember any of the things and dates and starting times. I knew I wouldn't. I'm going to have to check and see if they have a ward web site.
