LAND OF THE MIDNIGHT SUN?

Well, I found out one more thing about summertime in Ireland when I went to bed last night. The sun doesn't go down until after 11pm. I'm not kidding! My husband said he went fishing this week (before I got home) and they fished until 11pm. It was still light when they left. I'm not sure exactly when the sun goes down completely, I know it's after 11, which also makes it kind of hard to go to sleep.
It reminds me of when I was a kid - my mom would make us go to bed in the summertime when it was still light outside. I can remember looking out my window and seeing all my friends still playing outside. Well, it's a good thing I have blackout shades and drapes in the bedroom. We should shut the bathroom and bedroom doors though because of the skylights in the foyer and bathroom, but we can't because then it would make it too hot. Even in the wintertime, the light from the skylight is too light. It's dark when we go to bed, but sometime after midnight, the light changes and it's lighter and shines through the skylight keeping us awake, so I usually shut the doors in the winter.
I wonder if I have a couple of those sleep masks from the plane....
